His Grace, Bishop ALEXANDER of Ottawa

newbishops.jpg

In December, I reported on the consecration of our new bishop for our new diocese; Eastern Canada and Upstate New York.  The above picture is from that event, Sayedna ALEXANDER is on the far right.  (you also see Bp, MARK of Toledo, Pat. IGNATIUS IV of Antioch, and Bp. THOMAS of Pittsburgh, left to right)

We had the privilege of recieving Sayedna ALEXANDER, at St. George this past weekend for a parish celebration.  (The anniversary of 40 years of the priesthood for our Archpriest Emeritus, Fr. George and Kh. Grace Aswad....Many Years!)  I tell you what a joyous weekend it was.

Bp. ALEXANDER is a tall (6'2") quiet man, but whose love for God and his new flock shines very bright.  He was very good with our children, and got a kick out of our Mary Kate.  (Who doesn't?)  He told us clergy and Altar servers, to do our best for God's glory, and not worry about honest mistakes.  You hear stories about bishops snapping at people, when they don't do what they want, but Sayedna only corrected people in love.

In his homily on Sunday, and in his counsel to the clergy, particularly to the pastor, Fr. Paul, he stressed "setting the bar high."  We need this challange, and the direction that only a bishop can give.  Its scary to know that we are going to be stretched and expected to grow, but may God give us the courage and strength to follow the leadership of our archpastor, and inheritor of the Apostolic Mantle.

Axios to His Grace, ALEXANDER, and may God grant him many years!

I met him a few times when he was a local priest. The kids in our parish loved him! Even David ran up to him once when he was co-celebrating with Fr. G and said 'Goodbye Father!' as we were leaving. Very un-David. Y'all are blessed. He's a good man.

LOL, my kids had the same reaction to him. And in matters of family life, his advice seems more wise then many of those who have been married for many years.....

Has Bp. THOMAS visited Holy Cross yet? I understadn there is quite a height difference there!
