Martha Stewart

I don't get it.  A woman, breaks the Law.  (Lying about a stock sale or something.)  She goes to jail.  She is released to supervised home confinement.  And this is the leading story for news netwroks all over the place.   ???  Who cares?!

If you like Martha Stewart, and who can deny that she is a talented woman, you will still probably watch her show about gardening and making things pretty.  If you never watched her or read her, your not going to start now.

So whats this about?  I can only guess class envy.  It seems people are appalled that she was whisked away in a private jet, to her Bedford mansion.  What do they want?  Should we strip her of her wealth, because she "done wrong?"  If that is the case, then all of us stand to lose our private possessions.  For who is it that doeth good and sinneth not?

But I even feel the same way about Michael Jackson.  MJ is a horrible human being.  What he is accused of doing is monstrous.  BUt trials like this happen all over the US at any given time.  What is it about us that want to see the details?

I look foward to my self-imposed isolation from the news media during Great Lent.  Hold me too it, would you?

I can't belive I have a blog entry entitled, "Martha Stewart."

You can credit Martha's "come back" team per this week's issue of Newsweek for all the news about her. Makes me sick actually. We've gone along and glorified a criminal.
