Healing Mice?

Scientist from Novosibirsk tried to prove miraculous qualities of an icon by putting it to mice - Interfax

Moscow, December 8, Interfax - Doctor of biology Sergei Speransky from the Novosibirsk Institute of Hygiene decided to prove that the healing from Orthodox icons was not imagery.

An experiment on white mice was carried out for two weeks. The scientist injected two dozen rodents with a preparation that models a liver disease. Half of the experimental mice lived in normal conditions, while other ‘participants’ lived in a cage with an icon placed nearby for an hour every day, Vechernyaya Moskva daily wrote on Thursday.

It turned out that the mice who lived in the cage with the icon recovered much sooner. However, Speransky’s experiment has not aroused much enthusiasm in the Novosibirsk diocese. Archbishop Tikhon (Yemelyanov) of Novosibirsk and Berdsk stated that it was a sacrilege, and that the healing power of the miraculous icons has been known from time immemorial without any experiments.

Good Grief!

1) Of course Icons convey God's grace.

2) It does seem sacreligious to put an icon in a cage of mice.

3)  Why do we have to "prove" these things?

Having stated #2, I would pray for my pet and of course the priest sprinles Bella with Holy Water when he comes to bless our home at Epiphany....

Still trying to dissect the unobservable... Pity, really. I truly hope they find their soul over there. With all the western nonsense being poured it isn't going to be easy.
