GREETINGS IN CHRIST..I AM SOMEWHAT NEW TO THE ORTHODOX FAITH. I GREW UP IN A NUMBER OF FUNDAMENTAL CHURCHES. THEN I FOUND THE ORTHODX CHURCH THIS WAY. A MAN CAME INTO MY STORE ONE DAY AND AS USUAL I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT GOD . A FEW WEEKS LATER A NEWSPAPER, "THE CHRISTIAN ACTIVIST" CAME IN THE MAIL. INSIDE WAS AN AD FOR THE BOOK "DANCING ALONE" BY FRANKIE SCHAEFFER. BECAUSE I HAD HEARD OFTEN ABOUT HIS FATHER, I WAS INTRIGUED AND ORDERED TWO COPIES AND SENT ONE TO MAY SISTER WHO LIVED 135 MILES AWAY. IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR READING TOGETHER WE WOULD OFTEN CALL EACH OTHER AND THE ONE QUESTION WE ALWAYS HAD IS "WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL US THIS" WE ALSO SHARED MANY TEARS OF JOY. IT IS A LONG STORY BUT SHE AND HER HUSBAND BECAME ORTHODOX. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE WAITING TO FIND OUT WHERE GOD WANTS US. ALL THE ORTHODOX CHURCHES ARE MILES AWAY AND WE ARE ELDERLY. THERE IS AN ANGLICAN CHURCH OPENING NEARBY SO WILL VISIT SOON. MY QUESTION ABOUT THE ORTHODOX CHURCH IS..WILL THEY EVER HAVE A TV STATION LIKE EWTN DOES FOR THE CATHOLICS? MY SISTER, BECAUSE SHE IS PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO ATTEND HER ORTHODOX CHURCH, WATCHES EWTN ON A DAILY BASIS. SHE IS FOLLOWING SO MANY OF THEIR IDEAS..IS THIS OK FOR HER TO DO? THANKS FOR BEING THERE AND BEING THE "TRUTH" TO US ALL. A DO THINK THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PROTESTANTS WHO WOULD BE OPEN TO THE ORTHODOX FAITH IF THERE WAS A PROGRAM THAT WOULD SHARE THE FAITH WITH THEM. SO MANY ARE LOOKING FOR CHRIST BUT AS I DID IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES. SOME SAY THEY FEEL OUT OF PLACE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT USED TO LITURGICAL WORSHIP, THE VENERATION OF ICONS, AND EUCHARIST. THIS COULDALL BE EXPLAINED ON A PROGRAM.
MY HUSBAND AND I READ THE MORNING PRAYERS EACH DAY AFTER BREAKFAST,FOLLOW THE CHURCH CALANDER FOR OUR SCRIPTURE, AND PRAY FOR THE CHURCH, OUR FAMILIES AND OUR NATION.....THANK YOU.

Hello again Deacon. So, have you and your family made the leap from NY to AK?
I've nevr been toi Alaska, but been to the Queen Charlottes (app. 50 miles south; off the coat of British Columbia). Beautiful.

In case I never told you, Last year, after 2 1/2 years as a catecumen, I joined the Holy Orthodox Church. The time since has been challenging. My priest does not allow me to make excuses when my conduct is described as un Christian. Regardles, I wouldn't exchange the Pearl of Great Price for anything.

Hello! I'm reading about the orthodox faith, trying to understand how things are. What it's like to be orthodox. I live in the north of Sweden. Thank you for an interesting site.

Your brutal honesty in your declaration of love and determination in "Ten Years into the Great Experiment" brought me up short. I found myself actually shedding a tear and silently rooting for you. All the best.

Hello Deacon:
It was good to see your family in church this Sunday. I'm so glad Kelly is doing better. It does my heart good to know my camp buddy is okay. You are all in my prayers. Keep the faith... Janice
